Manohar Parrikar, who was defence minister before becoming Goa chief minister in 2017, tweeted that the audio clip was a "desperate attempt to fabricate facts".The taped conversation was released by the Congress at a press conference earlier in the day and Congress president Rahul Gandhi referred to it in Lok Sabha.

Priests carry out 'purification' of the Lord Ayyappa Temple after the visit of two women. The ruling BJP and other groups have called for a state-wide shutdown today Violent protests broke out across Kerala following the entry of the two women below 50 into Sabarimala temple.The BJP had called for a two-day protest against the women’s entry in the Sabarimala temple under police protection.A group of women jumped a barricade and came close to the CM’s office in the state capital, but were overpowered. Many government buses and vehicles were pelted with stones. A Sabarimala Karma Samithi activist who was injured during stone pelting in yesterday's clash has also succumbed to the injuries.

Twenty-four MPs of the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) have been suspended for five sittings of the Lok Sabha for entering the well of the House and disrupting proceedings. The AIADMK MPs had raised slogans against the Mekedatu Project, which calls for a dam to create a reservoir on the Cauvery river in Karnataka.
