As per a recent study by Accenture, the skill gap is a burning need and a key challenge facing India's economy. The study highlights that close to 2 trillion dollars in India's GDP are at risk due to the skill gap. The World Economic Forum also underlines reskilling as an imperative. Bridging the skill gap is no small task. It will require tremendous and coordinated efforts from government, employers and organizations. Nor will it come cheap. The WEF pegs the cost of reskilling in the US alone to be at a whopping 34 Billion USD. This may be one of the most important and challenging tasks ahead for organizations and HRs role will be key in this shift.
